Connect to a dApp
What connecting shares, how to read the connect request, which wallet a site sees, and how to connect a desktop site to your phone with a QR code.
Connecting shares your public address with a site, so it can show your balances and ask you to sign. It never gives the site your keys, and it can't move anything without your approval.
Connect
- On the site, tap Connect Wallet and choose Morsel.
- Morsel shows Connect to [site] with the site's domain and network.
- Read what the site asks for:
- ✓ See your address and balances
- ✓ Ask you to approve transactions
- ✗ Move funds without your approval
- Check the domain is the site you meant to visit, and check the wallet at the bottom.
- Tap Connect. On iPhone and Android, confirm with Face ID or your fingerprint.
On the Chrome extension, the request opens in Morsel's window with This app will be able to: and This app will NOT be able to:, an account picker, and REJECT or CONNECT.
Warnings on the connect request
| Warning | What it means |
|---|---|
| This site isn’t in Morsel Apps. Only continue if you trust it. | Morsel doesn't know this site. That's normal for new apps, but check the domain carefully. |
| Suspicious site | The domain looks like a well-known app's but is spelled differently, or the address contains phishing patterns. Don't connect. |
| This site is blocked | It's a known phishing or scam site. Morsel stops the request. Nothing was signed. |
| Request from an embedded frame | Something inside the page, not the page itself, is asking. Only continue if you trust it. |
Which wallet a site sees
A site sees the wallet you're using, and its address on the network you're on.
- To use a different wallet, switch wallets. In the browser, open the site card and tap Wallets and accounts. The page reloads and the site asks again.
- With Private mode on, sites see your private wallet instead of your real one. See Private mode.
A site you've approved can reconnect by itself next time, on the same wallet. On the extension, approval is per network: after switching networks, sites ask again.
Connect a desktop site to your phone
Some sites show a Morsel QR code in their connect window, so you can use your phone as the wallet for a site on your computer.
- In the Morsel app, tap the scan button at the top of Home.
- Scan the code on the site.
- Check the site on Allow this site to connect? and tap Connect.
From then on, the site's requests appear on your phone for approval. They're end-to-end encrypted between the site and your phone. The QR code works for 5 minutes.
