Message requests
Why messages from new wallets wait in Message requests, what's switched off until you accept, and how to accept, block or report.
Messages from wallets you don't know go to Message requests, not straight into your chats. Scammers message people too. Requests keep them at arm's length until you decide.
What makes a request
A chat is a request when the other wallet:
- isn't in your contacts,
- has never been paid by you, and
- hasn't been accepted by you before.
Receiving money from a wallet doesn't make it known. Scammers send tiny payments to start conversations.
Find your requests
Open Chats. Requests sit in one row at the top: Message requests · From wallets you don’t know, with a count. On Home, a request shows as Request · Wants to message you, never with the message itself.
Until you accept
- Links can't be tapped. They show as plain text.
- GIFs stay hidden: GIF hidden until you accept.
- No replies or reactions, and no Pay button on payment requests.
- They can send at most 5 messages.
- No read receipts. They don't know you've seen it.
Accept, block or report
Open the request. Instead of the message box, you see who it's from and three choices.
- Accept moves the chat into your chats. Links, GIFs and payments work normally.
- Block removes the chat. You won't get their messages or notifications. They aren't told.
- Report blocks them and tells Morsel, so others can be warned. See Block and report.
Chats with your contacts, and with wallets you've paid, are accepted automatically.
